It is now our last full day in Panama and I think the word that would sum up this whole experience is unforgettable. I got the chance to try amazing food from different cultures, saw what the day-to-day life was like in Panama, visited Catholic churches, explored Casco Viejo, saw a waterfall, was invited into an indigenous village, learned how business is conducted here, hiked Anc?n Hill, visited the Col?n Free Trade Zone, and enjoyed the most beautiful views.
I gained more relationships with classmates that I know may not have been developed if not for this trip. This trip was a great bonding experience for all of us–I know I can confidently speak for all of us when I say that. It was even fun socializing with locals here, or at least trying to! I had a few friends helping me with my Spanish along the way, and I?m proud to say I even ordered a meal all by myself in Spanish!
As for me personally, exploring Panama has shown me how little of the world I have actually seen. It has also shown me to be more grateful for what I have than longing for what I don?t. We passed through some pretty tough neighborhoods, but we also went to some beautiful places. I didn?t want to just remember the most prestigious or beautiful places, but also the towns/neighborhoods that show how some Panamanians live, both sides are just as authentic.
Lastly, for our business visits, we gained some useful insights. I loved learning about how companies can join the Col?n Free Trade Zone, I loved learning about Est?e Lauder, and the opportunities for investment through real estate here. I want to pursue entrepreneurship and I can see myself either investing in real estate here or joining the Col?n Free Trade Zone.
I recommend Panama to anyone looking for a great place to travel. To see the water, eat great food, and meet nice people. Thank you Panama for having us, it was an aMAYSing experience.
