Initially, I thought the global business program would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to explore the vastness of an entirely new country. From Vietnam to immigrating to the United States for 13 years now, I?m looking forward to experiencing a new country as a foreigner and to experience the thrill of not knowing. After this visit to Panam? City, Panam?; I hope to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the different people, places, and culture. Furthermore, this would be a great opportunity to see if working as a full time professional in a foreign country is a good fit. While it is easy to generalize a country as a first or third world country, there is much more to a nation than its development stages. If there was another opportunity for me to visit this country again, I would definitely not miss out on it. The biggest difference I see here in Panam? compared to the United States is that everything is pretty much walkable? my favorite thing about the host country is just how alive the night life is here. Although, you might find yourself having to shower twice a day in this dreadful heat and humidity. It?s aMaysing just how the weather in the daytime can be even worse than Texas. You can walk from your hotel to get dinner or coffee with your friends after 10pm and the city would still be awake. However, the US is very reliant on having a car as a main way of getting around, which can seem difficult to really connect to the people. While the United States is much more developed than Panam?, the communities seem much more intricately connected here, seeing as they are considered more a collective society whereas the US serves more as an individualistic culture.
