What I hope to gain from this global experience is getting to know a new culture and I also want to see how our lives may be different from theirs in Panam?. In addition, I want to know more about the businesses there and how they function. I want to see a local and international business and see the similarities and differences between each other.
On my way to Panam?, I was really nervous about the flight however, once we got there I felt more at ease once I was on land. The first thing that I felt was the heat: At first, it wasn?t too bad, but after a while, it started to feel hotter in a way–it was hot and humid but with some wind. It was nighttime when we arrived but when we got on the bus and started going to the hotel, I was able to see more of the city. It all looked really pretty because of the building lights shining through the night–it was a very nice skyline. During the day I would say it looks more beautiful because you can see the nature of Panam? as well. You can see the buildings but also mountains with a lot of green in some areas. I noticed that there was a lot of honking while we were driving on the way to the hotel and it was unusual for me because in the United States, I feel like we do not hear honking as much. A very big difference between the United States and Panam? would be the language since in Panam? they speak Spanish. A similarity I noticed is the currency: They both use the dollar, but in Panam? they give change back in Panamanian balboas. The place where we are staying seems to be modern since there are changing billboards, modern-looking buildings, etc. so it was also similar to the United States in this aspect.
