Howdy! My name is Diana Lopez and I?m class of 2026! I got the opportunity with the Regents Ambassador Program to travel abroad to visit Panama City, Panama for the very first time. Some things I hope to gain from this experience is how Panama’s culture is similar and different to U.S. culture and how they interact with foreigners. Along with how businesses function and their work ethics. Lastly, a true understanding on how the Panama Canal works. Within the week we have been here in Panama we have been able to see places like ruins, an indigenous village, the inside of a jungle, Panama Canal and lastly business. Which have all been very extraordinary to see and learn about. I have seen that Panama’s primary language is Spanish while the U.S. primary language is English. Good thing I am bilingual, and I was able to help my friends who do not speak Spanish very well or at all. I hope to build more relationships with my classmates in which I?m traveling with. I usually do not talk to many of them, but I can tell that this trip is going to be a unique bonding experience. Some of the differences I have seen between Panama and the U.S are very unique. From what I already saw of Panama I?d bring on conserving most of their natural environment. That?s why there?s a lot of green areas. I enjoyed the greenery because compared to the United States we cover most of our land with houses, businesses, and other things that may not be sustainable to the environment. I cannot wait to see what all Panama has to offer us. Can not wait to become more socially active, explore, see the ocean, and dance to great music. Once again, I want to thank the Regents Ambassadors Program and CIBS for this opportunity!
