Businesses have to think about the global and local mindset. For instance, and example that I heard from the Est?e Lauder Companies was that they have internships for local college students in Panama, but there are also internship positions for us in the United States. This shows how in a way they are thinking both locally and globally. On top of that, they had such a diverse group of workers working in that building. There were workers from Panama, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, United States, etc. Their office there seemed to be very comfortable and modern, which was very interesting to see. It was really important for us to see the physical building because this way we see how it actually is to work for the company especially when they are in a hybrid mode. When we engaged with individuals from Panama, they all seem to be nice and welcoming. For me, it was easier to communicate, because I knew Spanish which is the same language they spoke. However, for some of my classmates, it was a little harder, but they were still able to communicate with them. The people who spoke Spanish would help them communicate and then they would pick up some words from there. Some of my initial impressions were not really accurate, because I said that they had modern buildings. They are modern, but not all places are like this. The place where we were staying at was more of the financial area which is very modern. However, there was a day where we went to another place, and you could see some very old buildings and we even learned that they do not have access to clean water. Overall, Panama was a great experience and like many places, there would be modern and old buildings. The nature aspect of Panama was very pretty everywhere, and I was honored to be able to have this experience.
