Studying abroad was the greatest decision of my college career. Not only did it change my perspective on life, but it shaped my understanding on how I want to live going forward.
I traveled and lived across 12 countries while I studied abroad. Each place filled with it’s own culture, traditions, and delicious food. You genuinely learn so much from seeing how people live and what they prioritize. I strongly advocate for solo traveling as well. You can grow as a person and find out what you truly value when you put yourself in new places and allow yourself to be uncomfortable.
I think the one thing that I didn’t expect is how easy it would be to make friends in such a new environment. Bocconi did an amazing job hosting events, and everyone was so welcoming, from the students to the faculty. The friends I made from all around the world are people I now FaceTime everyday. We come from different places and different backgrounds, but we all shared the same experiences that we will carry on with us for the rest of our lives.
I think studying abroad is one of the best opportunities given by Texas A&M and I strongly recommend everyone to give it a shot at least once. I know it’s intimidating at first, but the life lessons you learn are truly so valuable and I wouldn’t change a thing about it!
