When I first heard of the Adam Sinn European Investment Management Trip, I remember being in my accounting class and thinking,” Wow, this is such an amazing opportunity.” However, I was very apprehensive when applying because it sounded very technical, and I felt I was not at that level yet. But this trip exceeded every expectation; the companies I visited and the places I saw were utterly amazing. We started the trip in Washington, London, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and France. Throughout the duration of the trip, I learned so much and got a better understanding of the financial sector. I probably learned more in my two weeks abroad than a whole semester. Even though I was a freshman, I got to learn very early on what I liked about a specific company or was not particularly interested in. I also was able to have so many networking opportunities and talk to interns, CFOs, and many other important people. I also learned about fiance through a global perspective; I got to compare American culture to European culture.
After I got home from my study abroad, I felt like I had lived an entire lifetime. My personal growth, such as challenges, aspirations, and passions, was redefined. This trip allowed me to be able to set better goals for myself because I got to see what I wanted to become firsthand. I believe I became more adaptable and resilient after my trip, which will only help me later in life. There is no trip like this one, and I am forever grateful for being given the opportunity to go. The friendships and the conversations are something I will cherish.
