My initial impression of Iceland was first cold! But, as our time went on, surprisingly, we were able to get used to it. The program made it easy to adapt to the business language, and being surrounded by sustainability in every business we visited helped understand the culture. I noticed in Iceland that the portions are vastly different, for example, every restaurant had much smaller portions than we are used to in the states and was more expensive. Another bit that stuck out to me was the awareness of what their restaurants and food service places are putting out into the environment. I will attach a photo of our breakfast area’s signage, but I thought it was an extremely important idea to remind people of, which is to take only as much as you need, rather than wasting food. These are just a few of the things I noticed in the first week of our travels!
