Our final day in Iceland was by far was one of my favorites! Today we got to take a long-awaited tour to the scenic south for the entire day. Some of us booked a tour that started at 8am and took us to 4 distinct places, and dropped us back off around 6pm. Our first stop was an immaculate waterfall over a mountain that was absolutely stunning. There were stairs, many of them, that led you to the top of the waterfall for a fantastic photo opportunity. Truly breathtaking. Afterwards, we got to see a glacier up close. After a little walking trail, we saw a giant glacier that had been partially covered in volcanic ash and sand, making it seem not as vibrant, but still very beautiful.
Next stop was black sands beach, with large basalt columns all along. The black sand was very eye-catching, and I really enjoyed walking the coast, even though the rain had started to pick up. Our final stop was another huge waterfall, and this one you could walk behind to get an amazing view. This was probably my favorite stop, and I got some fantastic memories from this stop. I feel a very specific way about leaving Iceland. Even though we?ve been for 2 weeks, I have no real longing to go home. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so much, and because I have been so occupied, I haven?t really had time to feel ?homesick? so to speak. I will say I am content with going home, however. It will be very nice to see my hometown friends, family, and favorite restaurants again. I look forward to what I will continue to learn about sustainable business, and how I will apply everything I?ve experienced these last 2 weeks over the rest of my life.
