My initial impressions of the global business program were that I am grateful to be able to go to Japan because of the work that its staff does behind the scenes to ensure that we get to go to our study abroad smoothly. My thoughts about Tokyo, Japan are that it is a massive city that has many different places to offer such as restaurants, stores, malls, towers, temples, etc. I honestly felt out of place, which is to be expected since I am not from here, but it is because I do not like how I do not know the language; however, I hope to learn Japanese and someday live in Japan. The food here has been phenomenal to eat, and I have been trying as much new food as possible since we landed. I guarantee that there is a place here for you to eat from if you are not sure what you want. The people in Tokyo are really nice, patient, and know how to dress up which is another reason I feel out of place. I hope to see the differences of how Japanese people display themselves by comparing them to how Americans carry out their lives. Additionally, I hope to learn more about Japanese culture as much as I can during this study abroad so that I can hopefully come back on my own with the knowledge I will gain so that I am prepared. I noticed a lot of differences between Japan and the U.S but to name a few, I noticed that there are not really any trash cans to throw away trash which is ironic because Tokyo was really clean. In addition, people here walk on the left instead of the right like which was an adjustment that I had to make.
