This is being typed as we are on the plane, about to depart from Iceland once and for all. I don?t want to leave and I?ll be back at Mays in four days taking classes again. This has been a fantastic two-week break from school and something I will never forget. I hope to someday take a family here, and see even more stuff because we truly didn?t have enough time. Most people seem ready to go home, but I need about 2-3 more days. I didn?t get to go ice cave touring, ATV mudding, horseback riding, or any general trail hiking. My biggest hope as we go back home is I?m able to see these new friends again. We?ll all go back to our old busy lives, friends, and routines, and I hope we remember each other enough to be able to get together a few times.
Highlights from the trip? I really don?t know where to start. I?m going to walk into my dentist’s office and see a picture of a waterfall and say to myself, ?Wait, I?ve actually been there.? They never get old, and we did a good job of seeing progressively bigger ones so that I was able to continuously be amazed each time. After this, I?m going to have to choose maybe three nature photos (I have no idea how I?m going to pull this off, everything here is beautiful and my iPhone 8 which still has a Home Screen button is taking the best pictures it?s ever taken) to post online. We saw a truly breathtaking glacier, I didn?t get to stare at it long enough before we had to go. The night scene was so fun, I had one of the best nights out I?ve ever had here. Seriously, Iceland is where it?s at.
Compared to other study options, the nature is better, there will be fewer people that will come so you can make more personal bonds with everyone, and Iceland is so accommodating to tourists overall. They have black sand beaches, volcanoes, crazy weather, delicious food, moss-covered mountains (tree-covered mountains are overrated), and best of all? there?s not a lot of just looking at buildings, architecture, and museums (WHOOP, for me personally at least). This is truly one of the fastest feeling two-week periods I have ever had in my life, and that means it was a lot of fun.
