I have now been in Dubrovnik for just under a week, and it has been incredible! We met with our local companies for the first time on Friday and were able to discern what problems they needed solved. My client is “Beauty Room VV”, and the owner needs a lot of help creating an online booking website and branding a new product line to be launched in a couple years. She speaks little English, so we relied heavily on a translator. It has been so cool learning from a small business level how Croatia does business. At least from an American perspective, it makes me grateful for the expansive knowledge and education that we are provided in the U.S!
Dubrovnik is beautiful. It is certainly the most beautiful place I have ever visited! Every day It is sunny with highs in the 80’s and very little wind. What is most amazing about it, though, is the sightseeing. It is a very walkable town, and there are so many different things to see. From old town with towering walls and gorgeous views, to Lokrum island off the coast with beautiful hiking trails and native peacocks, there is so much to see here.
Croatians are amazing people. I have learned that the average salary here equates to around $11,000 USD, and people often work two jobs. Our tour guide for one of our tours owns and operates the oldest Real Estate company in Dubrovnik, and it is one of the companies we are consulting! While they don’t live on much, the cost of living here is low, and they seem to be very joyful people. Just this morning, I had a great conversation with a student enrolled at the University of Dubrovnik in the dorm fitness center. He is studying to be a maritime Captain of a ship! He is also working as a lifeguard. He was very kind in sharing his story with me and he gave me a great glimpse of what it is like living here in Croatia.
