I had such a wonderful two weeks in Spain! My favorite part was visiting the different businesses. We got to see a smaller family-owned business as well as one that is global! Our first visit was in Sitges to Cellar Diaz, a family-owned business that sells Vermut. We learned about the process of making their products and what their day-to-day activities look like. We also had the opportunity to present to them an idea about how they could improve their business! It was a lot of fun to work with my classmates and come up with ways to help them. We also visited Barcelona Activa, which is a business that is helping people find jobs, helping entrepreneurs, and helping Barcelona’s growth overall. They had lots of really great spaces where businesses were given the resources they need to succeed! One of the last places we visited was Freixenet, a wine company. They sell their products worldwide and I have even seen them at our H-E-B in College Station. If you ever get the chance, definitely try it! We got to learn about where they source their products from and the process of making wine. Overall, I noticed that in Spain all the businesses were tradition-oriented and had a sense of collectivism. This is all very different from the United States, where everyone has more of an individualistic attitude. I am so glad that I was able to experience Barcelona and see the business side of the city. I can’t wait to go back someday and see how much they’ve grown!
