After being in Portugal for a few days now I have learned a lot about the city of Lisbon. My initial impressions of the city were that it was a very pretty town. I enjoyed seeing all the tall buildings and winding streets and hills. our hotel is nice because it is in the middle of the city, so it has been fun exploring the nearby restaurants with my classmates. We have been on a few company visits and walking tours which have allowed us to see a lot of Lisbon and gain a better understanding of the history and culture of Portugal. I am excited to travel to Porto in a couple of days to experience another city of Portugal and learn even more about it.
The two companies we have visited so far are a cork farm and an olive oil farm. It was interesting to learn about how cork was made because it is such a big industry in Portugal. The olive oil visit was also very fun, and i enjoyed seeing the processes of making and exporting olive oil to other countries. we even got to do a taste test of the olive oil and take home a sample which I though was really cool. On the two walking tours we have taken so far I loved seeing the beautiful buildings throughout Portugal. Our tour guide has taken us to some really nice castles, and it has been very interesting to learn about the history of each one and do some exploring with friends. I have also enjoyed getting to know my classmates and exploring Lisbon together during our free time. I have already made so many memories with everyone and I am excited to see how the rest of the trip goes.
