The first couple of days in Spain have been very fun and filled with new experiences. Not going to lie, I am not very welcoming of new things so this trip is out of my comfort zone for sure. But, I have learned a couple of things about Spain already. First, the coffee. It is amazing! Just to sit and enjoy a cup of cafe con leche with friends and eat a pastry is so much fun. Second, it is important to learn about the culture and observe what others do. There has been so much that I have learned by just watching others and lots to discuss. Lastly, the weather has been a bit of an adjustment. I am a very cold person naturally so I layer up when we have tours outside!
My favorite experiences so far have been walking into la Sagrada Familia for the first time. It was so huge and detailed, I don’t think I fully grasped how tall it was. When it is finished it will be the tallest basilica in the world! I also loved visiting Sitges. There we got a tour of the city and a local business, Cellar Diaz. I got some beautiful photos and had lunch by the sea! My favorite memory so far was one night, on our way back to the apartment, we came up the stairs of the metro to find hustlers selling clothing laid out on big blankets. The police had just shown up and were scaring them off. They grabbed their bundles and ran off. It was a really great unfiltered experience of Barcelona!
