I have been in Spain for almost a week now and I am completely loving it! I always knew that I wanted to study abroad in Spain and this has been even more fun than I had ever imagined. We are in Barcelona which is a region of Spain called Catalunya. Catalunya is a region that has a much different culture from the rest of Spain and they even have their own language. My favorite thing about this city is the architecture and the Spanish emphasis on aesthetics and art. At first, I was skeptical of how enjoyable this was going to be but after getting to know the people on the trip with me I soon realized that this trip was going to be awesome. On the first day, I immediately noticed many differences between the US and Spain. For instance, everything is small and compact and the Spanish know how to utilize their space very well. On the Second day, I got to see firsthand how impressive Spanish architecture is from seeing the Sagrada Familia. It is the tallest church in the world and the most expensive. Our tour guide, Christina, said that she actually gave Jay-z and Beyonce a tour of the same basilica. Also after visiting the city of Sitges, I have determined that I want might want to come live there for a while after college. The city is so beautiful and the art is unbelievable. Overall, this trip has been an absolute blast and The people on the trip are great and we have become so close is such a short amount of time and I can?t wait to see what the rest of this trip has in store for us.
