These first few days in Barcelona have been incredibly exciting! Although this is not my first time in Barcelona (because I have family here), it is always a joy to watch others experience this city for the first time themselves.?Day one started off with arriving in Barcelona at 8 AM in the morning and dropping off our things at our apartment, which will be our home for the next two weeks. We knew that in order to quickly adjust to the time change that we had to keep moving. Therefore, my roommates and I decided to go grab lunch, and then I showed them around the few parts of the city that I remembered from my last time here! It is just as beautiful as I remember, and the food is just as tasty. It is clearly evident how rich the history and culture are in Spain and I’m incredibly excited for this opportunity to explore and learn more about this city in the next two weeks. We visited Plaza Catalu?a, las Ramblas, a few of Gaudi’s beautifully designed buildings, Paseo de Gracia, and La Sagrada Familia all within the first two days! Walking into the Sagrada Familia,? I remember staring up at the massive columns designed as trees that hold up the basilica, as well as the light shining through the stained glass windows, and feeling a sense of peace just wash over me. Today, we just visited Sitges, a small coastal town just west of Barcelona. I was in awe of its beauty! We met with the owners of Cellar Diaz, Miguel and Raquel, where they make vermouth. I loved hearing from them about how their product is made and the roots of Cellar Diaz. Miguel’s joy when talking about what he loves to do was so clearly evident, we could see him smiling through his mask. So far, it has been a lovely three days. There is so much to see and do and I can’t wait for what is in store for the rest of our time here!
