From touching down in San Jose to departing back to the United States, I was able to easily see differences in the lifestyles of Costa Ricans to Americans. After talking with several local business entrepreneurs, owners, and managers it is easy to see that the business style of Costa Ricans is very different than the styles commonly seen in the United States. From the overall attitude towards Costa Rican businesses to the values instilled in the way they spend their efforts while growing, Costa Rica takes a far more calm approach.
When interacting with businesses and the people in Costa Rica, I was able to identify their focus on happiness and family. There is a term commonly used there, ?Pure Vida,? which essentially means “pure life” and that saying goes for their business approach as well. Many of the businesses tend to have a more relaxed attitude than Americans when it comes to growing their business and income. While it is still important for them, it is not the center of their life because they are centered around family, religion, and maintaining the ecosystem within Costa Rica.
