If I had to choose a phrase to describe my time here on the study abroad program, I would say “personal growth.” I grew a lot in a professional sense and a personal sense. Professionally, I had a lot of experiences that taught me how to be a better team player. This was the first time I was placed with a group that was younger than me and had less experience than me in terms of travel and academia. I learned a different perspective from this age and experience differences, and I’m sure they absorbed some stuff from me as well! I believe it made me more well-rounded as an individual. This experience enlightened me in ways to communicate more effectively with people that are on a different wavelength than me, in more ways than one. On a personal note, I learned that I am capable of being adaptable, a make it or break it trait for an entrepreneur like me. I don’t think I “survived” this trip. I think I thrived in it. I was put in a country where next to nobody spoke the same language as me, and I was still able to travel, communicate with others, and made memories that will last me a lifetime. I recommend traveling abroad to anybody who is thinking about it because this experience not only gave me the confidence to be able to go out in the world and be successful, but it also gave me memories and friends that I will cherish for a lifetime.
