My Spain experience was unfortunately not what I hoped it would be. It started out smoothly; everyone was thrilled to be in a new city. We had been split up into groups to do projects throughout the trip, and ours was getting along and working together well. Our main project was working as consultants to the company that rents out our apartments, WeFlating. They are opening up their first hostel this October and we offered them help with planning for that. We did research on customer bases for hostels, competitors in the industry, distribution platforms that they can use to market the hostel, and more, before meeting up with one of the heads of the company to tour the new property and ask questions. About two weeks into the trip I tested positive for COVID-19, which landed me in quarantine for 10 days. Of course, this made group work difficult as I could not be there working with them. I still had the benefit of having started the work with them, so I had some idea of what I needed to work on while I was isolating. But when it came time to finish our most important group presentation my absence made things more difficult. We were still able to finish the project well enough, but I feel like I missed out on some of the most important parts of the actual studying portion of the trip.
