One month in Spain, gone by in the blink of an eye! Although our study abroad trip had its ups and downs, I am proud to say that the past month was a life-changing experience. Our class was fortunate enough to work closely with several incredible entrepreneurs and learn many interesting nuances of doing business in Spain. From the difference in restaurant service to the approach to expansion, business in Spain differs significantly from in the United States. For example, many small business owners in the U.S. are willing to put everything on the line to increase business. In contrast, Spanish owners are more conservative with their funds, preferring quality over quantity and avoiding the uncertainties of risk-taking. We saw this in our team?s chosen entrepreneur?s focus on a small but perfected business model of guiding tours.
After the initial adjustment of traveling across the world, my time in Spain was amazing. Experiencing new foods, languages, and people gave me an entirely fresh perspective on my life and what I plan to do with my future. I will leave the readers of this blog with my final and favorite memory of the trip, sitting at dinner enjoying a lovely traditional Spanish Paella, prepared by one of the students? project entrepreneurs, and bonding over the incredible past few weeks.
