I know I usually say this every blog posts, but I truly enjoyed this past week. The week began with a group trip to Girona and Tossa de Mar. Girona is a beautiful, tiny city built on a hill that?s an hour away from Barcelona. Girona is typically known for its medieval architecture and walled Old Quarter. The city is considered to be one of Europe?s largest and best-preserved Jewish quarters. A really interesting fact I learned while there was that a couple of scenes from Game of Thrones was filmed in Girona! It was really nice walking all around the tiny city and getting to chance to see a lot of beautiful medieval architecture. In Girona, we all had a group lunch where I got the chance to try rabbit and snails. My meal was surprisingly delicious and I?m glad I got the chance to try something new. 🙂
After lunch, we headed our way towards Tossa de Mar, which was roughly 45 minutes away from Girona. Tossa de Mar is a beautiful beach city located in Costa Brava. As a group, we walked all around the city and learned all about it?s rich history. As a big fan of old movies, I found it really interesting that Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (a film with Ava Gardner and James Mason), was filmed in Tossa de Mar. We even got the chance to see a statue of Ava Gardner.
After we returned home from our group trip, my roommates and I began to pack for our flight to Majorca. Once everything was packed, we made our way to the airport and got on a 30 minute flight. From there, we took a taxi to our hostel. Due to a situation with our original hostel, we didn?t end up going to sleep until 2 am. We woke up quite late the next morning and decided to have a relaxing beach day. We had lunch at this restaurant called Old Vienna where are waiter was super nice. My roommates and I then went to the beach and stayed there all day.
Day two of Majorca was a lot more eventful. It started off with us missing our 10 am Catamaran excursion. Thankfully, the company was nice enough to reschedule it for the next day, but we also had to reschedule our flight in order to make it. After a hectic morning, we all went to grab lunch before our next excursion that we scheduled. We got the chance to ride ATVs all around the city which was really fun. I will admit, I might?ve almost crashed into walls a couple of times! We ended up driving to a beach where we got the chance to cliff jump and scuba dive. I am afraid of heights so I wasn?t about to jump off the cliff by myself, but our tour guide was nice enough to push me into the water. It was a really funny moment and even though I didn?t do it on my own, I?m still glad I got to somewhat cliff jump. When it was time to go, we drove back to the meeting point and a roommate and I had to book it to our final excursion-parasailing. We both ended up making it in time and I was a little nervous. We got chosen to go first and although i was nervous leading up to it, I discovered that parasailing actually isn?t that bad! It was definitely my favorite thing that I did that day. It was so nice to be able to be in the sky and see the beach from a different perspective. I?m so glad I got to experience parasailing with my roommate and that I was able to push myself.
On our last day in Majorca, we went on the Catamaran which was really fun. We were on the boat for roughly four hours and it was so nice to be on a boat and see all the beautiful sights. We even got a chance to swim in the sea which was my favorite part. The water was so nice and I got the chance to jump off the boat. Once we came back, we spent the rest of the day at the beach until it was time to go to the airport. This week was extremely fun and I still am in disbelief that we have less than a week left in Barcelona! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to live in Barcelona for a month. I have truly loved this experience and while forever cherish it. I?ll try to make the most out of the few days I have left here!
