We’ve been here in Spain for two full weeks already! that blows my mind. It has been such a blast. We’re approaching the third and last week of school, which will be slightly more intense for me considering we have our final exam and I have two presentations to present. However, despite the workload, I am so excited for this upcoming week and all the activities we will do!
Last week was amazing! To start the week off, we hiked to Montjuic Monday evening. On our way to Montjuic, we stopped to see the palace that overlooked Barcelona. It offered an amazing view of the city that we got to take in, then we proceeded to go on the hike. It was more of a lengthy, uphill walk than a hike, but it was so beautiful to see once we arrived. The landscaping on the hill is incredible and it overlooked the ocean and Barcelona’s famous Port.?
Another really cool thing we got to experience was attending one of FC Barcelona’s soccer scrimmages later in the week. Beforehand, we went to dinner at Villa Caprice, which is an amazing restaurant with lots of options of food. Then, we went to the soccer game. Even for a scrimmage, it was packed with Barcelona fans when we arrived. Personally, I have never been a huge fan of soccer, nor have I kept up with the teams in the states or international teams, however, I was captivated by the game the whole time we were there. I found that the game was very entertaining to watch from the fourth row and it is a lot easier to follow when you’re sitting that close. While our seats played a factor in keeping us engaged in the game, the player’s passion and talent for the game kept us on the edge of our seats as we watched them play their hearts out.?
Moreover, as a group, we went to the Mortiz brewery on Friday and learned all about the beer production process, which was very interesting. After we received a full tour of every section of the facility and learned about all the stages of the process, we got to taste test the beer! To my surprise, I liked its unique flavor and fresh taste. Overall,? attending Moritz brewery is something I do not think I’ll ever get the chance to experience again, and was a wonderful learning experience! Afterward, my roommates and I went to go explore and shop at the local shops in Barcelona. Barcelona has many of the same shops that we have in the United States, but we have also discovered so many more brands and local shops here.
Finally, this weekend, we got to venture out of Barcelona to Mallorca! We were only in Mallorca for around thirty hours, but it is so amazing there. The beaches there are more secluded and quiet than the beaches in Barcelona. The water is crystal clear and the sand is so soft. We also explored the town of Palma, ate dinner as a group, and got to take the beauty of the city in.
