Another week down, and another blog post to submit! How is time going by this quickly? This week has been slow and sweet in the best way. For the first time, my days seemed routine and like everyday life. I think that?s because Barcelona is starting to feel like home! It has been a comforting and fun feeling.
This week started off with a walking tour to Montjuic. On the way, we got to see Plaza de Espa?a, Palau Nacional, and the old facilities for the Olympic games! It was a great opportunity to get to walk because it allowed me to have time to take in everything that I was seeing. Montjuic was absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the long ?hike?. Some people in the program decided to tour the castle and the views from the top were amazing! It was a cool experience walking through the arches of the hallways. After our walk, my roommates and I decided to eat at the top of Arenas de Barcelona, a shopping mall. The restaurant was wonderful and the view was even better.
The week consisted of school, shopping, and lots of good food. One night my roommates and I grabbed dinner and gelato with some college friends in another study abroad program. On a different night, we got dinner at the cutest restaurant by our house called La Pepita. It had the most incredible tapas and we immediately knew that we would have to go back! Some people in the program also went to an FC Barca practice game. It was cool to see the team in action, even if it was just the 3rd string players!
This week was great, but the entire time we were getting excited to head to Mallorca that weekend. On Friday, we went to a tour of a brewery and then quickly headed out to catch out flight to Palma. The weekend started off with a bang when our taxi driver dropped us off at the wrong house, and we had to walk a mile with all of our luggage to the right one. Already a funny memory! That night, we headed to Palma and had an awesome dinner and some great gelato. We walked around the city and enjoyed its active nightlife. The next morning, we had an ATV and cliff jumping tour planned and we had a blast. We got to ATV around the countryside and drive around little villages in the middle of nowhere. The two-hour tour ended with cliff jumping and it was definitely an experience I will never forget! That night we headed back to Palma and did some more exploring around the city. The cathedral in Mallorca was breathtaking and we were excited to find out from our taxi driver that Gaudi played a small part in its restoration many years ago. On Sunday morning, it was sadly time to leave and we headed to Palma one last time to grab breakfast. The trip was amazing, but I think everyone was ready to head home. Funny how our little apartment in Barcelona has become home for us!
It was an incredible week and I can?t wait to see what the next week has in store!
