Wow, what an experience! My trip to Barcelona, Spain was full of so many amazing memories I will never forget. I was lucky enough to spend a month in Barcelona with a great group of Aggies and a fantastic professor, and I learned so much during my time there. Going into the trip, I was a little nervous and unsure of what to expect, but I quickly learned that I need not be scared. Professor Lewis and the other students travelling with me provided lots of support and camaraderie and every new situation went super smoothly.?
Knowing very little Spanish was one of the things that I was most worried about at the beginning of the trip. It became an exciting challenge to effectively communicate with the Barcelona locals, and my Spanish drastically improved in just a month abroad. I was surprised how little English the locals spoke, but I am glad that they didn?t because it forced me out of my comfort zone and made me learn to communicate both nonverbally and in Spanish. I am now a pro at ordering coffee and food!?
There was so much to see and learn in Barcelona, and a month was the perfect amount of time to experience so much, but also be ready to go home at the end. I am so glad I was able to be a part of this wonderful experience, and although I already miss Barcelona, I am glad to be home and ready to start a new semester at A&M.
