This week in Spain marked new adventures that I am finally excited to write about. As I mentioned in my last blog, me and a few others from my group had an amazing adventure in Roses and Cadaques Spain. We got back on Sunday and it was really good to finally get to know other people in my group. I am so thankful that everyone is super nice and enjoyable to be around. I could not have asked for a better group of people with whom I did not know to travel with to a foreign country!
This week was a busy one as we went to classes and continued to further learn about the European Union and International business. I had two presentations this week and a test for Dr. Panina so I was busy preparing and studying for that. I did manage though to get some study breaks in as I am trying my best to keep a balance of school and fun. On Monday my group and I went on a hike with our tour guide Christina on the Montjuic Tour. They call Montjuic a ?Treasure Mountain? as it has a lot of major worldly attractions that attract people from all over the world. On our hike, we saw a beautiful building that was at the center of it all. It was the National Museum of Catalan Art. This building was very pretty as it sat on top of “Treasure Mountain.” It was really cool getting up to it, as it had a lot of stairs, and it even had an escalator for those that didn’t want to hike all the way up the mountain. It was honestly a good workout as we hiked over 3 miles that day. Next, we saw the Olympic Ring which was basically an assortment of buildings that was built for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games as it was held in Barcelona that year. This was really cool to see because the shape of the ring is very exotic looking which I saw as not only a building but a really cool piece of art. Finally, we made it up the mountain and the sight was incredible. We finally got to the Montjuic Castle which overlooked the commercial port of Barcelona. The Montjuic Castle was a military garrison that started to be built around the early 1600s. This military garrison was used for wars that have been fought over centuries and there were also prisoners held there. The fort has three different levels that you can go exploring. I went up to all three. In the so-called castle, I saw the actual cells that some of the prisoners in the 40s stayed in. It was an emotional thing to see. After looking on the inside, I went up to the very top of the castle, which I literally felt like I was on top of the world. Maybe I was.
This weekend, me and a few others from my group are going to Mallorca Spain. I am so excited to see the island and explore its attractions. Until next time as I tell you about my adventures there!
Adios!
