I was so excited to study abroad with Mays because prior to landing in Barcelona a few days ago, I had never traveled outside of the United States. I had no idea what to expect but was so excited for whatever was to come. The university had so many activities planned for us that I felt confident I would be able to make every moment worth it while here. In the few days I have been here, I have seen so many amazing things and experienced an entirely new culture. It was a bit of a shock at first, but I immediately threw myself into it and was ready to dive headfirst into this experience. From the beautiful architecture on every street to trying the unique and tasty Spanish food, every moment has opened my eyes to the amazing culture that exists in this city. I have made so many friends that have made the trip even better and I am so excited to grow alongside them for the rest of my trip. Traveling to a new country can be scary but doing it alongside my friends has made it so much easier as we are all learning, having fun, and getting lost (sometimes) together. As I head into the rest of the program, I am hopeful that I will continue to immerse myself in the Spanish culture and grow alongside my peers. I know that there is still so much for me to learn and appreciate about this culture and I look forward to speaking with more locals to experience the true atmosphere of Barcelona. Everyone has been so welcoming and even encourages me to use my Spanish- haha! I never expected to love the city and trip this much already, but it has already been the experience of a lifetime and I never want this trip to end!
