First week of classes: done!! This week has been a crazy, fun-filled week full of meeting new people, trying new food, and experiencing an amazing new culture. Barcelona was less of a culture shock than I thought it would be; I was excited to get out and explore. We started off the week with two different walking tours, which gave us a chance to orient ourselves and introduced us to the excitement of the city. We walked through Mercat de la Boqueria, down La Rambla, past Gaudi?s Casa Mila and Casa Batll?, and through the Gothic Quarter. The architecture in Barcelona is amazing! I am looking forward to going back to these places over the next few weeks and exploring them even more.
Over the next few days, we went on many group excursions and ate a lot of good food. Our excursions this week included a hike up Montjuic and a visit to the Port of Barcelona. Both of these experiences taught me a lot about the city of Barcelona and its history. I am really looking forward to the rest of the excursions that are planned for the rest of this trip! As for food, Spanish food has become a new favorite of mine, and I cannot wait to try even more new dishes.
Studying international business in Spain has definitely been an eye-opening and informative experience. In our classes, I am learning a lot about international business, the EU and the history of its formation, and the importance of having a global mindset. It has definitely been interesting to examine the globalized world and international business from a lens that differs from the American one that we are used to.
I am very excited to learn more about Spain and Barcelona and immerse myself even further into Spanish culture.
