My first impressions of Spain have been mostly positive. I have enjoyed experiencing the openness of the city of Barcelona and the people that come with it. I am only three days into the trip but I have already gone out of my way to talk to locals and be social with them. I thought the language barrier was going to be much worse than it actually is. Even though I think most locals would prefer to speak Spanish or Catalan, most seem open to speaking English with me. I have also enjoyed the price point here in Spain. Obviously, I have been accustomed to the market prices in the United States. This has made me appreciate the lower cost of living and goods here in Spain that much more. If I had to pick something I don?t like, I’d have to say the concern of pickpocketing is my least favorite thing here. Growing up in San Antonio, this is not something that has ever really crossed my mind while being in public. Despite this, I have still enjoyed the streets and nightlife here. I am hoping to see as much of the city as possible and I am glad that I am here.
