Only one week into my study abroad and I have experienced a whirlwind of culture, metro tickets, dinners, and bike rides that have already begun to shift my perspective on how I live. We started our trip in Lisieux, a small town close to Normandy. Here most of our activities revolved around the history of the Normandy beaches and Mont Saint Micheal. While history was my favorite subject in high school I haven’t indulged in it since and quite frankly it wasn’t something I was particularly looking forward to on the trip. However, the country’s history has quickly become my favorite aspect of the trip. I’ve found myself moving up to be close to the tour guide, taking detailed notes, and asking questions about the locations we visit. Now we have made our way to Paris and completed two more amazing tours! In Paris I have had my first brush with real public transportation, not counting my few rides on the Aggie Spirit busses. As dumb as it sounds the public transportation has been so interesting to learn about. The city was built before cars making roads limited, leading to bikes, trains, buses, and walking being the primary method of transport here. As my Journey here continues I cant wait to learn more about the culture of France and other countries we visit.
