Two weeks in Barcelona flew by in the blink of an eye. Of course, we were in an entirely different country, but many of my observations still caught me off guard. I had read about various aspects of the food culture there before we left, but I didn?t know I would love tapas so much. I knew that people were generally more family-focused there versus the largely career-focused culture of the U.S. When it comes to the business culture of Barcelona, I can comment confidently on the attitudes of the small business owner we interacted with as part of the course. It was evident that this entrepreneur did business for the love of his craft, not for the goal of maximizing profits. Discussing his philosophy and vision for his business was really a breath of fresh air compared to the big-business culture that is most salient in American society.
