Our last week in Costa Rica was nothing short of extraordinary. We spent time with Toucan Rescue Ranch, Sibu Chocolate, learning how to cook traditional Costa Rican dishes, learning more about the economy in Costa Rica, and having some fun at Jaco beach. I really enjoyed seeing the transformations of the animals at the Toucan Rescue Ranch. Sibu Chocolate gave me another insight on how to create a business while appreciating the cultures that made chocolate so successful. Their take on supporting small farmers, reducing waste, and being as sustainable as possible really inspired me to take that mindset into my internship this summer.
While I am sitting here in Mays enjoying being back at a place I feel at home, I do miss my temporary home back in Costa Rica. Being abroad for just two weeks really changed my perspective on how I live my life here in America. Although I do enjoy being in the A/C, I do miss hanging with my MamaTica and playing with her one-year-old son, I know that I will keep in touch with her. Sending her my first day of school picture today was my first step in keeping our two-week bond forever. This trip gave me another family and new friendships to share my accomplishments with and I am forever grateful. If you are questioning studying abroad, I promise you that you will not regret it!
