Week three of this study abroad has been nothing short of incredible. I started off the week with a group tour to Parc Guell on Monday. Parc Guell is a privatized park system created by Gaud? that is composed of gardens and architect elements on Carmen Hill. I really enjoyed the tour and am yet again amazed by Gaudi?s brilliance. I can?t believe that Parc Guell was originally meant to be a gated neighborhood! Gaud? truly put in a lot of effort in all of his works. One thing I really liked about the tour is the fact the I got to geek out over the fact that various scenes from the Cheetah Girls 2 was filmed in Parc Guell.
Besides Parc Guell, we also got the chance to tour Barcelona?s Port on Friday. We first had an hour long presentation all about the history of the port and how it currently functions during this pandemic. After the presentation, we were then given a boat tour around the port. I enjoyed the tour because we got the chance to see the port in action. Overall, the tour was extremely interesting especially thinking about how all of it is man made. After the tour, my roommates and I ate lunch at Tapa Tapa located in a mall nearby. The tapas were delicious and I always love that Spanish restaurants always offer a variety of options. We then headed back home to get ready to go to Barceloneta Beach where we planned to meet Dr. Panina. The sun was definitely shinning very bright that day, but it was still a perfect day to go to the beach.?I always enjoy having beach days and it was fun to have Dr. Panina with us! :)?After hours of soaking in the sun and enjoying the cool water, we then went back home and had a movie night <3
On the following day, my roommates and I went to MUHBA Turo de la Rovira which is a viewpoint from which you can see the whole city of Barcelona. A really interesting thing to point out is that this used to be bunkers from the Spanish Civil War where anti-aircraft guns were installed. Getting all the way up to the bunker is quite a hike, but the views most definitely make it worth it. One thing I love is how on one side, you can see the Sagrada Familia and the Mediterranean Sea and on the other side, you see mountains and more suburban buildings. I had yet another incredibly week here in Barcelona and I am excited to make the most of the last two weeks I have!
