I really enjoyed my time in Costa Rica, we got to experience all new things. Living with my homestay was a huge shock at first but as the days progressed, I along with my classmates learned to live with it. During my time in Costa Rica, we got to meet very different kinds of business and we also learned about the economy. It was obvious to me from when we first arrived that businesses did not operate the same way as they do in America. One of the biggest differences that stuck out to me was how focused all the businesses regardless of their area of operation were focused on environmentally friendly. There are many more regulations in Costa Rica than in the United States that require companies to be eco-friendly. While the United States is trying to be more eco-friendly it is nowhere close to Costa Rica. I was surprised that the government would not send money to help out the Toucan Rescue Ranch even though the whole point of the business was to help rescue and release animals. They would perform surgeries on animals if needed and train them so that when they would be released into the wild they would be able to survive on their own. I thought this company deserved financial aid from the government because this followed the government’s policies.
