I finished my semester-long study abroad experience in Milan, Italy approximately a month ago. During my time in Italy, I was able to eat amazing food, travel Europe with great people, experience an entirely different culture, and attend a highly recognized university. I experienced feelings similar to those of freshman year. I didn’t know the area, my favorite restaurants/study spots, or the people in my classes. But similar to being a freshman in college you figure it out. I got to a point where I didn’t have to pull out Google Maps every time I walked out of my apartment and had a list of my local favorites. There was a realization that you can become comfortable anywhere with time.
I have always loved to travel, but getting to study abroad only heightened that passion. During my time in Europe, I got to experience ten different countries (Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Monaco, Switzerland, England, and Vatican City). Each country was filled with unique memories and experiences that will forever hold a special place in my heart. Every weekend was filled with a new journey and I couldn’t have asked for anything more special. Thank you CIBS for giving me the best people to travel the world with. The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study abroad seemed scary and unimaginable at first, but with each day brought more reasons I couldn’t image my life without it. If you get the chance to study abroad TAKE IT!
Ciao,
Brooke
