Howdy! My name is Sloane Simmen and I am currently studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark! I got an email that the Mays Business School was partnering with Copenhagen Business School and was offering me the opportunity to take a FINC 341 equivalent. I jumped on the opportunity, and now I am here! My initial impressions upon arriving are that the Danish bike a lot. There are dedicated bike lanes and little turn lanes and parking areas. Parents will have their kids sitting in the front. It is amazing to see and so interesting. I decided I will rent a bike, as it is walkable but a bike is quicker. The business school is really nice, and the people there are very helpful. While Danish people do not necessarily seem nice at first, they all are. The class structure here is very different. We attend really long lectures and have homework. However, the homework is not due for a grade. The only grade is a four hour written exam at the end of the course, and the grading scale is what they call a 12-point grading scale. Not only do they grade based on if you get the answers correct, the graders (which are not the professors) also grade based on if they think you truly understand the material. I am excited to work my way through corporate finance using this method.
