It was an incredible experience getting to travel abroad with CBL to the Dominican Republic over spring break. We got to learn so many lessons and wisdom from speaking with the locals about their lives and the Dominican culture. One of my favorite memories came from chatting with an older gentleman on his front porch. Through the translators, he told us about growing up under a dictatorship and how it made him strong. He encouraged us to always look for ways to serve others and honor our family names through the way we live our lives. He also told us about how his faith in Jesus guided him and made him strong. We all left the conversation feeling like we’d just sat out on the front porch with our grandad for hours.
It was also really cool getting to do our local business visit with an exporting company. We learned a ton about how business operates in the Dominican and the importance of innovation, resilience, and open-mindedness in running a business. We got to try some of the food products that the exporting company produced and they were amazing! It was cool getting to see the similarities and differences from business in the United States.
Overall, I learned a ton from our trip to the Dominican Republic. It was super cool to get to share the Gospel with local residents and serve them through our painting project. Montemos!!
