This year was off to a great start thanks to my experience with Global Business Brigades in Panama! I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in person for this trip since last year we did the Telebrigades program. We were the first group to ever work with that region so the people were very excited to work with the program. This motivated us to do even better and make sure that we were delivering our best work to our clients. My group’s client was the community bank and it had only been in place for 6 months so it was interesting to see how they are started. Their bookkeeping methods were very organized and effective so we did not think it was necessary to make changes to that. Our client’s goal was mainly to attract more people to join the bank so that it could grow and become profitable like other community banks. We created a logo, a plan for meetings, flyers, and pamphlets so that they could market the bank to the rest of the community. We had a great time getting to know our client and their families. We also got to know our group a little better and got to do lots of fun activities on the last days. We visited a few shops on the island next to Panama City and the city was beautiful! I am very excited to see what next year’s brigade will bring!
