Howdy! It hasn’t been a long time that I’ve been living in Copenhagen Denmark, but this city and country are most definitely growing on me. From exploring the inner-city center to walking around Copenhagen Business School’s campus and finding where I need to be, my time here has been filled with so much excitement from trying new things and meeting new people.
One major difference between Copenhagen and Texas is the weather. I sometimes find myself freezing outside, missing my warm Texas weather, but at the same time I have been enjoying bundling up in heavy coats in addition to scarves, hats, and gloves. So far, the weather has been cold and rainy with the exception of a few sunny days where you can find me going out on a walk in the park enjoying the fresh air and sunlight.
Besides the weather being different from Texas, a big culture difference I have noticed so far is the push for recycling and composting. Every household (including the student living I am living at) has several bins organizing items such as metal, glass, plastic, paper, batteries, and waste. Back in Texas, I am used to throwing all my recyclable items into the same recycle bin instead of organizing them out. Though I still need to occasionally look at my Danish recycling “cheat sheet,” this process is growing on me and making me become a more sustainable person.
So far one of my favorite experiences I have had here was learning how to Danish Folk Dance. I grew up taking dance classes but none of them were similar to this style of dance. It was so absolutely fun! For sure an experience I will never forget.
Overall, I am most definitely looking forward to spending the rest of my semester here at CBS. And so far, I am off to a great start!
