As I have just entered the country I have noticed a variety of different aspects which can only be explained by experiencing them. For example, the food, the architecture, the air quality, the food, everything. It is extremely easy to utilize the trams and metro here to travel across all parts of the city, and I highly recommend it. Additionally, the university itself is located in an area surrounded by many great restaurants and locations to meet with friends.
Travelling to other cities within Italy is an absolute must as Milan is a very metropolitan and industrial city. It is a great city to live and explore in, however if you want to experience architecture and art, it is necessary for you to travel to cities like Florence or Verona. I am enjoying life here and it is absolutely necessary for you to branch out and make friends once you arrive as you will always find someone to do something with. Be prepared for the smaller portion sizes if you eat out, cooking is the cheapest way to go in that regard. I highly recommend going on this program!
One of the most valuable aspects of this experience has been the personal growth that comes from navigating life in a new country. From figuring out public transport to adapting to local customs, every day presents small challenges that build independence and confidence. Living in Milan has taught me to be more resourceful, open-minded, and proactive in seeking out new experiences. Whether it’s striking up conversations with locals or planning spontaneous weekend trips, I’ve learned to embrace uncertainty and find joy in discovery. This program isn’t just about academics—it’s about becoming a more capable, culturally aware version of yourself.
