Entry 2 – Katelyn Brown

2025, Austria, Europe Marketing, Faculty-led and Field Trip Programs, France, Germany, Italy, London, Switzerland / June 9, 2025 by Mays Abroad

It is important to take time, and reflect upon experiences. As I am writing this, it has been about four days since we have returned from the trip. I am still in disbelief that I have been able to travel all over different countries for my first time abroad. I am forever grateful to the staff, and fellow students who have played a critical role in my life this past month! This month-long study abroad has surpassed my expectations, allowed me to grow as an individual, and gain exposure to a multitude of cultures.

I thoroughly enjoyed each and every business that we visited throughout each country. My favorite one was Design Bridge and Partners! Funny enough, this was actually our first company visit. I was intrigued about how they levered their reputable brand to use as a competitive advantage within the market. Moreover, their creative process when designing campaigns to find a way to leave an impact, and be remembered around the world. Individuals in London were actually extremely kind when approached, and were eager to talk to us when they learnt we were from the US!

I knew going on this trip, I was going to be introduced to an abundance of people and cultures for the first time. I have greatly appreciated learning about each country, and loving details about the different cultures. One of my favorite experiences was our dinner where we watched an authentic Austrian dance during the Tyrolean Evening Diner and Show! Also, we were able to listen to specific instruments to their culture which was super interesting! For example, bell ringing! This was really unique and I will never forget it!

My initial impressions that Europeans were rude, and were proven incorrect! Everyone was actually very kind, and the services were more efficient than I was originally expecting! Also, I was worried about language barriers, but I rarely ran into issues! It was only a couple of times at restaurants.

This trip was unforgettable, and I have A&M to give forever thanks to!
