This summer, I started my internship at Ypsilon Sports Clinic in Valencia, Spain. As soon as I arrived, I could tell that medicine is much different in Spain than it is in the United States. First off, everyone is dressed more casually and they are not as serious as in the United States. They also allow us interns to do a lot of hands on work like administer injections, conduct extracorpeal shockwave therapy, and talk to the patients and take down notes. However, everyone is very thorough when doing there job. The doctors make sure they completely examine the patients before diagnosing them and offering treatment. In this way it is very similar to the United States. They look over the patients history and any X-ray or MRI photos before asking a series of questions about the patients symptoms and conducting tests to figure out the problem. Overall, I have enjoyed my time at Ypsilon Sports Clinic and have gained a lot of valuable experience which I look forward to building upon further.
