Howdy!
I work at a business called Wallace Myers, which is an international recruitment agency. I work mostly with Susan, the Operations Manager. I do anything from putting new clients into the system they use to formatting CVs. Which, fun fact, did you know CV stands for Curriculum Vitae which translates to ‘the course of my life’? Resume is the French word for summary. Now, I’m not saying that America has a problem with being poetic, but there is a possibility the UK upstaged us on this one.
There’s my work! I work up on the third floor, at my own little computer station.
The CV’s I see can be up to 8 or 9 pages, which is kind of crazy. Every time I see one with a lot of information I just think ”Wow, this person is really not playing around. I hope they get a sales job because they sure are selling themselves right now”. Just imagine, being so qualified that you you had ten pages of relevant information to show an employer.
I am currently in D2. Dublin is the city, but it is also the county which has 24 districts in it. I did not know it was a county before I came and was really surprised. Then I started thinking that maybe we have copied that trend a bit (I’m looking at you New York, New York).
Lunch time is one of the most exciting parts of the day. The city center starts in?D1, so i am really close to a bunch of really cool parks and restaurants. There’s a park not very far away that I can see on lunch breaks or on the weekends.
Also, something really cool: Dublin has a ton of neat street art. I’ve spent a solid amount of time walking around town looking at all of the colorful art. I have an album on my phone dedicated to it. It is such a large city! You think that it’s very focused, but you can walk around for hours and still not see everything there is to see.
Overall, Dublin has been really awesome. The weather has been gorgeous, the people are friendly, and work has been busy (which is great).
(This has nothing to do with anything else, I just felt that the work should know that this exists. It was a donut filled with frozen yogurt. It was amazing and the donut was warm.)
