Howdy,
or should I say, BONJOUR AGGIES!
If you’re here because you are torn between study abroad programs, or even if you’d want to participate in a study abroad, let me tell you, this is an opportunity that very few people are privileged to experience. It has been both the hardest thing I’ve ever done and the most rewarding experience I’ve had in life. Strasbourg, France, is not a place I have ever heard of before, nor did I think it would be so stunning.
Arriving, we are staying in an apartment hotel with two twin beds, a huge bathroom, desks, and a kitchenette with everything you need to cook a meal. It’s located right next to the tram stop, which by the way, IS INSANELY FUN!! I would say it’s like a better version of Aggie Spirit buses.
We have classes for about 4-5 hours each day, but it’s completely manageable if you stay on top of your work. My biggest piece of advice is to go into this experience thinking you’ll do at least a little studying, and you will be fine!
I have tried amazing new cuisines that are so fresh and make me feel more energized than ever. We stop into a bakery quite often to take advantage of the access to fresh breads, pastries, cheeses, and more. My favorite dish thus far has been a flatbread pizza dish with cream cheese, mushrooms, and shredded cheese. The only thing I miss here is root beer!
We have visited the European Union, an incredible modern structure filled with rich cultural exchanges; the famous Strasbourg Cathedral, one of the most amazingly complicated architectural pieces you’ll witness; and a very famous park from the region with lush green grass, gorgeous views, and real storks!
Taking weekend trips is very manageable. A close friend of mine and I traveled to Ireland and England for our three days off and had some of the most incredible conversations with the locals.
Every aspect of this trip has increased my cultural mindset, skyrocketed my confidence, and ensured everlasting memories. I could not be more thankful to experience this kind of shift in my life, which is why studying abroad is a MUST – even if it’s only for one week!
