Before arriving in Barcelona, I imagined a city full of flamenco dancers, tapas bars, and daily siestas. While some of this is true, my experience has been much richer. Barcelona is a beautiful blend of old and new. The Gothic Quarter, with its narrow streets and historic buildings, feels like stepping back in time. My biggest observation has been the way the city respects its history while embracing creativity.
Our classes in Business Law and Global Business have been fast-paced and challenging. Learning about different legal systems and business practices through guest speakers and field trips has shown me how connected and complex globalization is. I’ve learned that building relationships and trust is crucial in Spanish business culture, and really in every culture.
One of the best parts of this journey has been building a sense of community with my fellow Aggies in Barcelona. At first, we were all strangers, but after our first welcome dinner, we’ve become a close-knit group, supporting each other through the uncertainties of navigating a new country. Whether we’re studying together, exploring the city, or trying new restaurants and foods, we’ve made memories that will last a lifetime.
My time in Barcelona has been very impactful. It has challenged my assumptions, broadened my horizons, and deepened my appreciation for different cultures. The combination of academic learning and cultural immersion has so far provided an unforgettable experience. As I continue this program, I look forward to more discoveries, deeper learning, and strengthening the bonds within the Aggie community. Barcelona has already left a lasting impact on me, and I’m excited for what’s next.
