Thanks to Mays Business School – Texas A&M University I had the opportunity of meeting with Mr. Gregory Seow, Head of Global Banking at Maybank, Singapore, who shed light on Maybank’s unique approach as an Islamic banking institution. Islamic banking follows Sharia principles, which prohibit usury and support ethical financial practices. Maybank, as an Islamic bank, aligns its operations with these principles, contributing to a more ethical and sustainable financial system.
Mr. Seow emphasized Maybank’s commitment to supporting businesses of all sizes, with a particular focus on fostering sustainability. Notably, Maybank plays a crucial role in helping smaller businesses navigate the dynamic landscape of e-commerce, showcasing their dedication to nurturing entrepreneurship in the digital era.
A key highlight of our discussion was Maybank’s overarching goal to humanize financial services. This involves a customer-centric approach, aiming to make financial services more accessible, empathetic, and tailored to individual needs. By prioritizing the human element, Maybank seeks to build trust and establish meaningful connections with their clients.
In summary, my meeting with Mr. Seow provided valuable insights into Maybank’s role as an Islamic banking institution, its commitment to fostering business sustainability, particularly in the e-commerce sector, and its overarching goal of humanizing financial services for a more personalized and empathetic experience.
