I was taken away with how much beauty and history is within Italy. We went to Rome first and went on many guided tours. Whether it was the Colosseum, Roman Forum, or St. Peter’s Basilica, I was so amazed and impressed with the talent and skill it took to create such fascinating structures. We then travelled to Florence where we are based out of and did a guided tour as well. Florence in itself is so homey and such a great place to stay long term in. There is so much culture and historic sites to see, like the Duomo and the Statue of David. I want to gain more knowledge of the rest of the world and see how different cultures interact. It has been so cool to reach outside of my comfort zone and experience a different way of life that’s not in my normal bubble. All I have to say is to fully immerse yourself in Italian culture. Italy is so different from the United States. Italy is so rich in history where there are lots of historic sites and many different eras and types of architecture all around. Family is huge in Italy. Not only is there a large emphasis on family in personal lives but in the business world as well. I can’t get over the food as well. Get used to eating lots of pizza, pasta, and sandwiches for every meal, but it is worth the hype. Italy also has a much slower pace with a strong work-life balance. Lunches and dinners take way longer and you are meant to truly enjoy all parts of a meal. Overall, Italy has been such an experience that I think everyone should have if possible. It has only been a week, but I have already learned so much about myself and Italian culture.
