We took two day trips to different cities that were pretty awesome. They were both on Thursdays and early morning wakeups. The first day trip was in Rome and since we had a free weekend after, I stayed the night in Rome with a couple of friends from the study abroad. We got to see a couple more sites, that we hadn’t already hit with our peers. With our school section of the trip we saw a few of the major points of Rome such as the Roman forum, the Colosseum, and Vatican City. It was so cool to be able to see the things that we had heard and learned about in real life. The following week our day trip was to Venice. It was interesting to see the city that I had seen so much of on social media in real life, however I quickly realized that many places were extremely romanticized. It was cool to see such an old city built on sticks and see the attention to detail the Venetians paid attention when they constructed it. The St. Mark’s Basilica was incredibly gorgeous and the Gondola ride was very peaceful. There was a little rain, but it didn’t stop us from exploring.
