The Europe Marketing Study Abroad Program has gone above and beyond with what I expected. Every day is full of so many exciting adventures. Our first stop on this trip was London, United Kingdom. I had never been to Europe before so this was all new to me. Dr. Mac and his group of professors did an amazing job preparing me and all of my friends for this trip. I loved London so much! The city was so clean and well kept compared to the cities in the United States. While we were in London the weather was phenomenal. The parks were so full of life. People had their dogs out running around and families were taking walks around the park. One thing I noticed that was different about London was that people were allowed to let their dogs run around without a leash. I don’t think I saw one dog on a leash and no one had a problem with it. In the United States, people become offended when someone doesn’t have their dog on a leash and it causes problems. Another difference in culture that I noticed was that us Americans are very loud and social compared to the British people. When we were walking around places and talking, or even in a restaurant, it was so much quieter than the United States. It was honestly very peaceful but it made us sound loud and obnoxious. We learned that when we go to a restaurant and we don’t want to pay for water, we have to specifically ask for “tap water” which no one told us. It saved us a good amount of money. We visited Borough market which was an old food market that mixed many different cultures and cuisines. The food was phenomenal and it was really cool to see all of the different cultures. Me and my friends tried lots of food and everything we got was delicious. I’ve learned so much already on this trip about difference cultures and traditions that I would have never learned in a history class. I would tell anyone to study abroad, because this experience has changed my perspective on the way I view cultures and countries around the world.
