It’s been about 3 weeks since we got back from Singapore. It was my first time in Asia and I miss it so much. The last time I spoke on my first week in Singapore I gave a day-by-day synopsis. The second week was filled with more company visits, which I wish happened on the first week because I wanted to explore the country more! But nevertheless, it was an amazing experience. I loved seeing companies like Halliburton and ExxonMobil since they were companies we have in Houston (very close proximity to College Station). It was intriguing to see the difference in cultures from Texas to Asia.
It was very interesting to see the business side of Singapore. The business culture was amazing. I loved how every worker was not competing against themselves. In Singapore (I’m not sure if the rest of Asia is like this), workers strive to make their company the best and work for the best outcome of the company. On the other hand, the culture in America is always a competition between your coworkers with peer reviews and bonuses on the line. I also went Block 71, where a lot of technology start-ups were, which was super cool and I will present on it February 16th at 8 am if anyone is interested in coming!
I miss Singapore so much! It was such a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to go to Study Abroad. Everything is in English so it is very easy to get around. I would recommend trying local foods at the hawker centers and not going to expensive restaurants because the food at the former is much better and more worth your money!
